Sonic Network to Provide Ringtone Technology on the Industry's Most Integrated and Comprehensive GPRS/EDGE Platform for Multimedia Wireless Phones

Boston, MA/December 14, 2004 --- Sonic Network, Inc., a world-wide provider of audio synthesis technology to the handheld consumer device and musical instrument markets, announced today that Agere Systems (NYSE: AGR.A, AGR.B), a global semiconductor company, has licensed Sonic’s EAS™ ringtone technology on Agere’s new GPRS/EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) wireless phone reference platform.

As a global leader in semiconductors for GPRS/EDGE and 3G mobile handsets, Agere offers a validated, fully tested integration of EAS that allows handset makers to rapidly accelerate time to market with new phones incorporating the latest MIDI ringtone technology.
